The simple answer is, because I have to eat. I would like to get this off the ground and I want to do this full-time. At some point in the near future I'm going to have to find something to do for a living as my software income is dwindling. If I do something else I can't do this. I think this is important and that it is worth paying me to make it happen. Your donation could turn this into a major religion. And as the only religion dedicated to the pursuit of reality, I think it's worth it. I think it will be good for the world and the human race. And you can contribute to help make it happen.
Are you tired of all these other religions collecting billions of dollars and using it to promote a description of the world that just isn't true? Would you like to live in a world where some people look at reality the way it really is? Do you think that there should be at least one religion dedicated to the real world? Perhaps you are a scientist, a computer programmer, or just someone who looks at the Bible and says to him/herself that there's no way that an onipotent being could have written something with this many errors. That if the Bible is the work of God then there's somthing wrong with God. So if you don't want Christians forcing creationism on your kid's school and you want to fund an alternative religion based on seeing reality the way it really is, then you need to write a check to the Church of Reality and I'll help make it happen.
Over the last 20 years Christians in particular have evolved to become much more agressive about inflicting their beliefs on everyone else. Their mission is not only to convert the world to Christianity, but to their particular flavor of Christianity. If everyone in the world were Christians, they would still be fighting among themselves over who are the "real Christians". And real Christians have always been ready to go to war and kill people over their beliefs.
If you're tired of Christians forcing their ideas on you and society in
general and you want to see an alternative based on reality, then send
me some money.
Christians are using their churches to funnel money into politics in order to force their views on society. They've practically ruined the Republican Party, turning it into a bunch of rabid religious nuts who are hell-bent on forcing their arbitrary moral standards on the rest of us. They want to control the schools so that they can force "Creation Science" on our children as well as other primitive mythological beliefs that have no basis in reality. They have no respect for other religions that have a different mythology, and they have even less respect for reality, and people who want to understand reality the way it really is.
It is our belief that religious oppression by Christians and other zealots infringe on our rights and our ability to do good science. Because Christians have a fetus obsession, scientists can't do fetal tissue research necessary to cure Parkinson disease or Alzheimers. Religions fear cloning research because we might be "playing God". Science is a threat to primitive religious beliefs because science tends to prove that holy books like the Bible are full of errors. Anything that disproves the Bible, in their view, has got to be evil. Therefore the Christians have taken an active stance against reality. And this threat to reality is one of the main things that motivated me to start this church. To defend the pursuit of reality from those who would oppress it.
If Jesus could see what Christians have evolved into, he'd be spinning is his
grave.
Let's get real here. It's a little hard to look at the Hubble Telescope images that peer back in time and space 15 billion light years and still believe that the world was created in six days about 7000 years ago. If the universe is only 7000 years old, as the Bible says, then we wouldn't be able to see any objects in space that are more than 7000 light years away because the light wouldn't have got here yet. We couldn't see to the center of our own galaxy, let alone the billions of other galaxies in our universe. The Bible is a book of fiction. But it is being presented not only as fact, but that God himself directed it's writing. Simple logic proves that isn't so. If we assume that God is omnipotent and created the universe, we then can see that the Bible is clearly wrong on the origin of the universe, then we can only conclude that the Bible is not the word of God. Simple logic, but a lot on this planet have a mental block to understanding it.
Your generous donation will help start a religion dedicated to pursuing reality the way it really is instead of the continued spread of competing mythologies. By doing good science, we might actually be able to be immortal someday. But that will never happen if the Zealots take over and oppress good science. This church actively defends your right to be real. |
