What do Realists Wear?
|
In the spirit of Individualism Realists can and are encouraged to wear just about anything they want. There are of course some limitations on what is appropriate, or what is so strange, that it's not appropriate. But a realist can push the line some and should not be constrained by the tastes of others. One has the freedom to make their own decisions about how they want to physically appear and express who they are by how they choose to look.
There are limitations on this based on some common sense restrictions. There are places where nudity is accepted and places where it isn't. In general the Church of Reality accepts the culture of the City of San Francisco as a guideline as to what is too strange to wear. If it will get you arrested in San Francisco it's probably over the line.

The Church of Reality opposes forcing children to wear school uniforms against their will and/or against the will of the parents. We feel that clothing is a matter of personal choice and that school uniforms infringe on personal choice. When people are forced to look alike then it tends to create a social dynamic where they are expected to think alike. It also teaches them to accept people who look like them and perhaps to isolate culturally from people who look different. It promotes monoculturalism and intolerance. Children should be allowed to express their individuality.
On the other hand Realists have the freedom to choose to wear uniforms if they want to. There are situations where there are advantages to wearing uniforms. But the important point here is that the choice to wear or not wear uniforms is up to the individual and that we assert a religious right to not be forced to give up our individual choice when it comes to our appearance.
|
Nudity in the Church of Reality is also a choice that we find acceptable. If you are in a place where others are publicly naked then there is no problem at all. We believe it's good to get a little sunlight on the skin. So we approve of nudity where public nudity is accepted.
However, in cases where you are the only one naked in a social setting, then Realists should use common sense and pay attention to local laws and use wisdom and social discretion.
