The Church of Reality opposes forcing children to wear school uniforms against their will and/or against the will of the parents. We feel that clothing is a matter of personal choice and that school uniforms infringe on personal choice. When people are forced to look alike then it tends to create a social dynamic where they are expected to think alike. It also teaches them to accept people who look like them and perhaps to isolate culturally from people who look different. It promotes monoculturalism and intolerance. Children should be allowed to express their individuality.
On the other hand Realists have the freedom to choose to wear uniforms if they want to. There are situations where there are advantages to wearing uniforms. But the important point here is that the choice to wear or not wear uniforms is up to the individual and that we assert a religious right to not be forced to give up our individual choice when it comes to our appearance.
