Respecting the Self Ownership of Others |
If everyone has ownership rights to themselves, their lives, their choices, then it's logical to assume that if everyone's rights are the same, that we have to respect the rights of others. In order to expect rights, we have to be able to give rights. To expect others to honor our intrinsic value, we have to honor the intrinsic value of others.
The Church of Reality is based upon the idea that we are one planet, that we are all here together, and that we have to figure out how to get along with each other. We need a peaceful society where we can work together for the purpose of exploring reality as it really is and the positive evolution of the human race. In order to do this people must be secure in their own rights and freedoms and have a sense that every individual has intrinsic value even if we don't agree with each other. We also assume that the rights of people are the same so that whatever rights we expect, we have to respect those same rights for other people, even if we personally feel that other people don't deserve the same rights as people like us.
